Reviews and Ratings
I had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The rooms on the second floor provided a fantastic view overlooking the harbor, with clean bedding and hot water always available from the tap, plus the added bonus of free parking. The location couldn't have been better, being just across the street from the ferry stop and offering easy access to the main business street of Stromness. Though the dining experience had some hiccups, overall, it was a great base for lone travelers and large groups visiting sites.
The hotel's location couldn't be better, right on the harbor front and just steps away from the main business street of Stromness. The views over the harbor from the tiny bar are fantastic, offering a unique experience. While the rooms are in need of a renovation, they provide a cool bath area and dressing area. The dining experience is superb, with freshly prepared meals cooked to order, although it could benefit from adding cheese. In terms of service, the staff were lovely and accommodating, making the stay very pleasant. Despite some areas needing updating, the hotel offers a convenient and wonderful stay for a short visit to Orkney.
The hotel offers large and airy rooms with fabulous food and unique views from every window. I greatly appreciate the secure private off-road parking but find the single occupancy supplements disagreeable.
I was thrilled to get a room here, right before Easter! The rooms did look a little old-fashioned, like they hadn't been redecorated in ages, but we managed to snag one quickly. The service staff was characterful and so helpful, even though the bar wasn't serving alcohol. The location was spot-on for exploring Stromness, with amazing harbor views. The dining experience was a mix - great selection, but some items were cold at 8 am. Definitely some room for improvement, but overall, it was a memorable stay.
The hotel offers a fantastic location near the main business street of Stromness with easy access to shops and restaurants. The rooms require renovation but provide views of homes and distant water. The service is generally cheerful and helpful, though some areas need refurbishment. The dining experience is excellent, especially the cooked-to-order breakfast. The hotel facilities are satisfactory, with some areas showing signs of aging.
